well im 5 months pregnant and my asthma specialist put me on pulmicort flexhaler which is a inhaled steroid but ve been so afraid to take it? please let me know some of your experiences with asthma while pregnant thank you...ohhh and ive also called my obgyn and they also told me to take it! thank you for your answers!

As with any medication, your doctor will not prescribe it unless the benefits outweigh the risks. I had to use an inhaler while pregnant because of horrible bronchitis that left me breathless and I passed out. If I had not used the inhaler, I would have died AND my baby would have died as well.

yeah you can still take it. albuterol and proair are fine too. i was paniced last night because i was up all night not being able to breathe and couldnt find my inhalor. my ob actually instructed me not to stop using it, so make sure you take it as needed!

I had a coworker who had severe asthma. In fact, she was hospitalized twice before she even got pregnant (twins). She was on a low-dose steroid throughout her pregnancy because the risks of not having asthma treated are greater than the risks of having the treatment. If your Ob/Gyn has said it is ok to take, then do so. If you are still concerned, make an appointment with another ob/gyn for a second opinion.

My guess is what you really is is for your ob/gyn to sit down with you and hammer out what the expectations are if you take it and if you don't take it and the potential effects on the fetus. Don't just let things be dictated to you - sometimes there are better choices, but you don't know that unless you discuss it with the doctor.
