I'm speaking from my own personal experience here - I had some wheezing in my chest this past June and it got worse and worse only to discover that I suffer from asthma. My doctor put me on the breathing treatments (nebulizer) and it seemed to help at first but then the wheezing was still there but not as bad. I called the doctor and he prescribed an asthma (albuterol) inhaler for me to use 3 times per day and that has seemed to help.
The great thing about it is that I can still use both the nebulizer and the inhaler. Definitely call your doctor.
Also, my daughter was diagnosed with asthma when she was 5 months old and the nebulizer treatments worked on her and she suffered no side affects from the treatments. As she got older, she was also prescribed an inhaler. The doctor told me that there was a great chance that she could be cured of the asthma granted I stick to the treatments. Well, I'm so happy to say that my daughter has been asthma free for 5 years now (she is now 13 years old).

my son was diagnosed when he was 5 months old, and they put him on the treatments along with a liquid albuterol. something you could do is get a humidifier for the rooms your little one is in the most. the moisture does help...other than that thee isn't much else you can do. is he exposed to animals cig smoke fresh cut grass, these are all things that could trigger the wheezing

Try cool night air. When my son was an infant that always worked for him. It's supposed to calm down the airways.

SudaCare makes a "plug-in" vapor releaser. It lookes like a small night-light. Plug it in and it will fill the whole room with vapors and helps open airways tremendously. It is the best thing I have found for my girls. You can find it in most stores in the same section as the regular vapor rubs.
Good Luck...
