What goes on mentally/psychologically while you're recovering from a severe asthma attack?
A shy coworker had a severe asthma attack and you watched her fighting for each breath until the ambulance came to take her to the hospital. She was out for a few days and then returned to work. She's always been quiet and fairly shy, but her first day back she was even more so.

my gf has severe asthma.
when we were first together she never told me she had it.she always felt embarrassed and sensitive to talk about it.
and now that i know, although i told her many times that i care about her and that her sickness should affect our relation, she's still very sensitive about it.
she never likes to talk about it,whenever she has an attack and im there, she leaves the room not to make me see her having the attack.
and when im there, after the attack is gone, she turns to be so embarrassed.
i asked her many times why does she feel so,she said that she never like to appear weak or sick in front of others
she's always afraid how will others see her sickness and think about her.
she's too sensitive that people may show more care or attention to her or gether and those r things she hates
so i believe ur coworker feels the same.
so,just try to get closer to her,let her talk about it gradually and never push her to talk.
make her feel that she should be ashamed by her sickness
and ask her if u were at her place how would she react towards u.
good luck
