Is Bronchitis the same as asthma?
I wonder what's the difference between bronchitis and asthma, bronchitis'symptoms are tight chest, cough and chest infection but Doctors say this is asthma. What's the difference, people who suffer from recurrent bronchitis do also need to take inhalers? Thanks for answers.

Bronchitis is an inflammation of the Bronchia, it can be bacteriological or viral in nature.
Asthma is a narrowing of the bronchia usually caused by a reaction of your body to environmental factors.

Technically the difference between asthma and chronic bronchitis is that asthma symptoms need to be inducible by exercise or chemical means and then need to show reversability by albuterol. Chronic bronchitis is a result of progressive lund damage that will not improve. The only approved way to diagnose asthma is by running pulmonary spirometry tests. If these have not been done then the diagnosis of asthma is not guaranteed.
Recurrent bronchitis is merely bronchitis symptoms brought on by recurrent bacterial or viral infections.

In it's simplest form, it's like this: Bronchitis is an infection that causes the lungs to fill with fluid and is treated with an antibiotic. Asthma is a reaction of the lungs to an offending substance that it thinks is a threat (like an allergy of the lungs) that causes the lungs to fill with mucus. Both have similar symptoms but bronchitis is curable and asthma is only treatable. If you boost your immune system and remove your allergens, your asthma symptoms should lessen. If you don't have an inhaler available during an attack, black coffee with caffeine works pretty well usually.
