I have dust induced asthma, sports induced asthma but i want to be a marine?
I REALLY WANT TO BE A MARINE..
I want to hear from former marines, marine recruters....only.
Could i possibly still be a marine
Could i get a waiver...
I heard that they give a breathing thing which induces asthma and u have 2 breathe through a tube.
Please HELP

if it;s been medically diagnosed, then they may be able to find out. but if you don't put it on your application, and they don't check, then you'll be fine.
keep in mind that since you have sports induced asthma, you won't be able to run very well and probably won't make it through boot camp

From the Regs;

d. Asthma (493), including reactive airway disease, exercise-induced bronchospasm or asthmatic bronchitis, reliably diagnosed and symptomatic after the 13th birthday, is disqualifying. Reliable diagnostic criteria may include any of the following elements: substantiated history of cough, wheeze, chest tightness, and/or dyspnea that persists or recurs over a prolonged period of time, generally more than 12 months.

im being completely serious here. change doctors or move. never tell ur new doctor about asthma. run 10 miles and when u get good at it. snort dust then run 10 miles. never tell ne1, dont ask for a wavier, theres a 90% chance u wont, and ull be screwed forever

the same situation happened to me (im in the army, sry im not a marine, but the med test r the same) and did exactly what i told u. i took that breathing test but by then i had done so much cardio work that they didnt even suspect asthma. now im airborne qualifed and i can run a marathon without ne problems.

mind u, there were more than a few times i passed out after snorting dust and running and needed cpr from my gf (who is a emt, lucky me). so ya it could kill u, but if u wanna join the marine corps, u already threw safety out the window am i right or am i right?

You'll have alot of problems during boot camp if you have to use an inhaler. But any kind of asthma, especially exercise induced asthma is disqualifying
