Does anybody know of any ways of getting rid of wheezing without an inhaler?
I have had asthma for a long time and haven't been to the doctor lately to get a new inhaler. Does anybody of anything I can do to STOP wheezing until i get a new one?
Thanks so much for the info!

First off, the wheezing thing is the characteristic sign of Asthma, and omitting it would say you dont have Asthma anymore. Its technically impossible to Stop it unless you dont breathe, but i think you can controll it. The wheezing comes from the narrowed bronchi during asthma attacks.
1. Pursed lip breathing-- is a breathing technique wherein you controll the air going out of your mouth by pursing your lips, thereby making a small hole only. Take a breathe/ inhale through your nose and exhale slowly through your mouth.
2. Avoid physical stress. e.g.excercise. It adds to your oxygen demand thereby adding the times you need to breathe.
3. I suggest you go back to your doctor to note the progress of your disease. HAd it become better or its too late.

you can't stop the wheezing but you can comfort it down to a tolerable level:
1.take a big bowl of boiling hot water add a few drops of eucalyptus oil and place a towel over your head and the bowl and inhale (long deep breaths) a number of times until you feel you've had enough
2.humidifer while you sleep will help keep the air at a better quality
3.and until you get a new prescribed inhaler from the doctor use and over the counter one like Primatine mist, they also have a bill form of primatine mist but my husband does better with the inhaler until we get to the doctor to get his regular one
hope some of this helps :)
