Links between Asthma and Milk?

Links between Asthma and Milk?
Okay, so I am diagnosed with asthma and as a young girl (4-10) have had serious asthma attacks enough to send me to a hospital. Than, I also realized that when I was 10 my asthma attacks and symptoms weren't coming back as frequent as they used to be. Also the fact that when I was 10 I stopped drinking milk and switched to soy milk. Is there a link between it?

There could be a link. I drink soy milk now because milk caused so much flem in my throat and gas in my stomach. Asthma can be an allergy to many things. It is not always the same for everyone.

Numerous studies have investigated the potential links between milk consumption and aggravation of asthma, but the science does not support the myth.

Examples of studies include:

A study that found that asthmatic patients who consumed dairy products five days before a study and stopped inhalers/medication before the study showed no adverse reaction to the intake of cow's milk.
An additional study into the effects of cow's milk consumption in asthmatic adults found that there was no significant difference between the results of breathing tests and the amount of coughing or mucus production reported by groups consuming cow's milk compared with the group consuming rice-based drinks, suggesting that cows milk does not worsen symptoms of asthma.
In contrast to exacerbating asthma symptoms, a recent study has suggested that dairy may actually help protect against the disease.

The study, conducted in over 3000 pre-school children, found that those who consumed regular (rather than reduced fat) varieties of dairy foods every day had a significantly lower rate of asthma symptoms.

This supports findings from earlier research, that children with the lowest intake of milk were two and a half times more likely to develop asthma than children who consumed more than three servings a day.

Conclusion

There is no evidence linking dairy to asthma.

People with asthma should not avoid consumption of milk and dairy products.

Milk and dairy products are the main source of calcium in the diet and it is recommended that we consume 3 portions of milk and dairy each day to meet our requirements.

1 portion includes 1 glass or 200ml milk, 30g or a matchbox sized piece of cheese, 150g or 1 pot of yogurt.

Consumption of dairy also provides a whole host of other beneficial nutrients and is associated with numerous other health benefits such as reduced risk of diseases including cancer, cardiovascular disease and diabetes.

(I have noticed my asthma worsens when I drink milk but if these "professionals" say it doesn't well whatever.)
