asthma should not control your life you should control the asthma so if you have been able to run and do sports then unless hot weather really affects you then carry on as usual. If you listen to your body and learn all the signs of your asthma and what effects it then exercise is very good for you, even strengthening your chest muscles and improving your lung capacity.
Some things you can do to help maintain your running is to take 2 puffs of the reliever inhaler 10/20 minutes before running along with some deep breathing exercises as this will give your body a good oxygen supply to help it from becoming fatigued while running and always have your inhaler with you or with someone close to hand.
breathing, speech and singing exercises are really good for asthmatics as not only teaching you how to relax as this is a necessary tool as stress and panic can bring on an attack, but also helps to maintain a strong open airway and improve your lung capacity and strengthen lung wall and muscles
If you think this will help you could ask your GP to refer you to either a physiotherapist or speech therapist who can help you with these or buy your self, self help guides on the above .
