Competitive High school swimming and asthma?

Competitive High school swimming and asthma?
I'm planning to join my high schools swim team next fall. I have asthma and was wondering... Will swimming benefit or worsen my attacks. I've read both on the internet... That the Breathing exercises/ Cardiopulmonary exercises will help but the Chlorine/ other chemical fumes will make it hard to breath.
(This is an outdoor pool)

I swim in a indoor pool, I absolutely hate it! The air is humid and sticky and moist and nasty, but when I swim in an outddoor pool, I don't smell anything at all.
Good luck, wish you the best!

It won't be easy. But many asthmatics are pushed into swimming by their doctors.
