It is the pregnancy, many woman who are very healthy still get short of breath during pregnancy like that. Just talk to your Dr about it and they can usually give you advice on what to do. Being pregnant is really hard on your body.

It's not asthma. You're just running out of room... there's a lot going on, and unfortunately, every other organ, including your lungs, gets squished and has less capacity because your uterus is taking up a lot of space. It's perfectly normal to have shortness of breath during pregnancy. Take it slow when walking and exercising, and never hesitate to sit and rest.

Your pregnant! :) It happens to everyone. I feel like I am dying half the time because I live in an upstairs apartment and by the time I get in side I can't breath.

It's not asthma. I have asthma and I'm pregnant. And there is a difference between the 2. Don't worry.

You can get asthma at any age, pregnant or not.

HOWEVER, It is most likely the increase of progesterone, a hormone that helps your lungs take on the tasks of supplying oxygen to your baby! Happens to the best of us!

I can't imagine that at 13 weeks you were big enough, or rather the baby was big enough to push against your lungs. At 13 weeks the baby was less than 3 inches and 2 oz! That kind of out of breath feeling will come later!

You might want to check for anemia though - that can cause you to get breathless.

BTW, Asthma, though does feel very different than just the normal "running out of breath". Hard to explain, but usually with asthma it is hard to breath IN and OUT, and you usually wheeze with it.

I really doubt it is asthma, or you would have gone to the doctors by now - it is hard to ignore an asthma attack - they usually require an inhaler or breathing treatment to control.

Still, I assume you are having prenatal care -ask your Doctor or Midwife - that is what you are paying them for! LOL They can make certain all your "symptoms" are normal AND they can explain (and should!) all the normal changes you will go through and what are the danger signs.

I assume you are not gasping for breath, dizzy, having any heart pain or palpitations. or any serious symptoms like that - of course you know to call 911 if that happens (UNLIKELY of course but still...)

OH and congratulations on the upcoming baby! It is really an amazing and wonderful time, dispite the minor discomforts!
