Can allergy induced asthma turn in COPD?

Can allergy induced asthma turn in COPD?
I am 25 years old and have had allergy induced asthma my entire life. I have also dealt with countless cases of bronchitis, pneumonia, respiratory infections, etc.
My parents are hardcore smokers. By the time I was ten my mother smoked four packs a day and my father smoked three. My father is currently battling lung cancer and my mother has suffered from emphysema for several years now.

I know lung cancer is always a possibility in these situations but do I also have a high risk of other lung problems like COPD, emphysema, etc.

The difference between asthma and COPD is the reversibility of the process. Asthma's inflammation/bronchospasm has a great response to medications and is a part of the diagnostic criteria. Long term asthma though can cause irreversible airway inflammation and look like COPD late in life. (This is sometimes referred to burnout COPD)

The prevention of which means good control of the asthma, prompt care for infections, and avoiding smoking at all costs.
