Anybody experienced giving their dog Prednisone for asthma?

Anybody experienced giving their dog Prednisone for asthma?
My dog is 10 years old and just here within the last 2-3 weeks, I have been noticing his breathing get worse and with a kind of wheezing breathing. My vet gave me some Prednisone and stated that it should assist in this with his asthmatic symptoms. I was just wondering if anybody else experienced this with their dog and if it did actually work? Is is temporary? Thanks

Asthma in dogs is VERY rare. Ask to have your dog treated for kennel cough, because those symptoms sounds like KC.

I don't have an asthmatic dog, but I do have an asthmatic cat.

Prednisone does help, but sometimes it doesn't, it depends on the animal. It has a ton of side effects, which sometimes outweighs the benefits.

I would get a second opinion.
