people and with asthma?

people and with asthma?
why is it that every person i know who has asthma is an amazing athlete and usually better than everyone else in my school. (in sports like swimming, track and field...etc)

Answer by dkf
A lot of people have exercised induced asthma, but never discover it because they don't play sports. It could be that many athletes in your school push themselves so hard that they discover that they have an asthma problem.

Because when you have asthma you are told by doctors that running and swimming and any physical activity is really good and healthy for you. It builds your lung activity and makes you stronger, so that way you are not as susceptible to diseases as bronchitis, pneumonia, and a bronchial infection. I myself have severe asthma, and know that the first few weeks are harsh, and you really have to be smart and know when to use an inhaler, but after wards it makes your lungs stronger and you can breath better and better. Some people that have asthma that are amazing athletes usually do it and push themselves harder and harder to feel better, which leads them to gaining more skill. Others, they are so active they don't know they have asthma until teen years, or even adulthood because they stayed so active, but when they stop being active, they feel weak and not able to breath as well, they visit a doctor who then says they have asthma. More people do suffer from asthma than you would think, and I am one of the people that run to feel better and become healthier. Hope that helps answer your question.
