asthma diagnostic tests- which ones to take? cost?
i need to prove i do not have exercise induced asthma and that it's in remission or completely gone. what tests should i go about taking? what does one have to do during theses tests? if my insurance doesn't cover these tests- that i feel i need to take for career purposes- how much would they cost me?

It is a bit difficult to prove a negative. When you say you have to prove you don't have exercise induced asthma, I am presuming you are trying to get a job or entrance into a program where exercise induced asthma would be potentially disqualifying. First: Do you actually have exercise induced asthma? i.e., can you run fast until you are exhausted without having asthma, or play a fast game of basketball, etc. without having an asthma attack. If you can, then the best way to prove you don't suffer from exercise induced asthma is to prove you can pass the fitness test for whatever program that you are trying to get into. The other way, and not as good, would be to have two sets of pulmonary function tests, before and after exercise. The problem with this approach is that someone can always say you simply didn't exercise hard enough to trigger an asthma attack. As I first said, proving a negative is difficult to do, and passing whatever fitness test is needed is probably a better way. Doing so suggests you will continue to be able to function at whatever it is you want to do. People do seem to outgrow exercise induced asthma, or learn to tolerate it. Jackie Joiner-Kersey (spelling) the Olympic athlete, had exercise induced asthma. It didn't seem to slow her down too much. Good luck.

There is no getting rid of asthma. If you were diagnosed as a kid and haven't had problems since, it's because your lungs have grown and allows more air in which accomadates for the breathing difficulties. It's pure myth that you can get rid of asthma.
