What's the chances my baby will have asthma?
Im 37 weeks pregnant and my mom told me i better hope the baby doesn't have asthma. My boyfriend has it but it not that bad. He doesn't use his inhaler unless he is really really sick. Will my baby have asthma?

Asthma is not passed on genetically. so probably not.

It is possible. My mom has severe asthma and of her three children two of us have it. But, neither one of us has it very bad. I use an inhaler maybe twice a year. Even if the baby does have it, it's not that big of a deal. It's not like you can't live a normal life with asthma. It rarely affects me.

i dont think asthma is genetic well it cant be as i dont have it my husband dont have it my two oldest kids dont have it but my youngest son has it pretty bad so just depends on the child and luck xx

Hmm i dont know where people have gotten the idea it is not genetic... I have asthma and so did my sons dad, my son was dianosed with it when he was 1, however at 5 he is already starting to grow out of it and i rarely ever have to use an inhaler on him, unless he gets really sick. My sons dad had another child from a different mom and her son did not get asthma. So it really all depends, and there is no way of knowing right now. Seeing your husbands isnt that bad is a good sign as well... Its rough having a baby with asthma, i spent many nights in the hospital and it broke my heart to se my son go through what he did, im so happy he is finally gwoing out of it and i dont have to worry about it on a daily basis. I wish you and your baby luck!
