Does Singulair help with animal allergies?

Does Singulair help with animal allergies?
Hi all,

I am on Singulair for asthma management, and it has worked very well. I know that it is also used for allergies too, and I have noticed that my seasonal/environmental allergies are significantly less of a problem since I have been taking it. What I want to know is, is it actually made for that? Or have any of you that take Singulair noticed a difference with your animal allergies (cat in particular)?

I am bringing home two kittens in a few weeks and wanted to prepare myself.... ;)

The best thing to do is to talk this over with the doctor that is treating your asthma. I have allergies and asthma as well, along with two cats. I take Singulair ( for asthma and allergies), Zyrtec (for asthma and allergies), Flonase (nasal allergies)and Advair (asthma). With this regiment I only have to use a rescue inhaler maybe 5 to 7 times per year, and the cats are not the reason. I am very active and keeping my asthma and cats under control are important to me. Talk to your doctor about some of these meds they may work well for you. Shots should always be a last resort.
