Can I use a nebulizer without asthma?
I really think I have asthma because I have persistent shortness of breath and chest pressure. My doctor thinks I dont have asthma because I'm not wheezing or coughing but you can have asthma without that sometimes. My dad and brothers have asthma so we have a nebulizer in the house, can I try it to see if it'll help or is it dangerous?

Who are you going to listen too, the doctor with 4 years of collage and a health degree, or yourself who just thinks so bacause you are short of breath, if the doctor says so listen to him her. It could be other things becides asthma

Get your blood test for eosinophil count and Haemogobin. There is possiblity of eosinophilia or being anemic resulting in dyspnea.

The nebulizer will not hurt you, but the medication is not yours and you shouldnt use medicine that isnt prescribed to you. Also you may not need the breathing treatments like your doctor stated. There are lots of things that can cause shortness of breath that are not asthma and believe it or not breathing treatments only help with bronchoconstriction NOT for shortness of breath.
