What is the relation between Ibuprofen and Asthma?
When I need pain relief, my parents say they don't want to give me ibuprofen because of my asthma. Why exactly is this? Is ibuprofen seen as an allergen to asthmatics? Just wondering, thanks :-)

I can't comment on that, I take ibuprofen, but I don't have asthma, you should listen to your parents.

People who have Asthma often have constriction in their airways.Since Ibuprofen is an anti-inflammatory agent,in some people it can have a constricting effect on the respiratory system, thus it can trigger an Asthma attack or bring one on.Not every person who has Asthma will be affected by ibuprofen this way and likewise with other anti-inflammatory agents.I have Asthma myself and I am one of the lucky ones whose respiratory system responds badly to Ibuprofen. My guess is your parents have done their homework and are being precautions about what medications they give you because of you Asthma.
