What are some signs and symptoms of sudden cardiac arrest?
I play a lot of basketball and often, especially recently, have been experiencing shortness of breath. However, I was diagnosed with asthma and have had some anxiety issues since going off to college.
Anyway im wondering if there are any signs i can look for? I feel like im nervous about this maybe for no reason, but just want to be safe

You can look for the pavement, because that's the last thing you'll see as you fall to the ground. If your heart goes into sudden arrest, you'll black out almost instantly.

Given the recent sudden death of Wes Leonard, the high school basketball player in Michigan, this is an important question. Shortness of breath is one of the symptoms associated with the condition that he had, but it also can be entirely normal. If you believe that you are getting SOB when you shouldn't, you should be checked out. Symptoms such as prolonged palpitations, or a sudden sensation that you were going to pass out (or, obviously, actually fainting!) also need evaluation.
It's very likely that if Wes Leonard had gotten an EKG, it would have shown abnormalities that would have led to a diagnosis and treatment that would have prevented his death. This simple test will pick up most conditions that can cause sudden cardiac arrest.
It's not been mentioned in the news reports that I've seen, but it appears that no automatic defibrillator was available where he was competing when he died. I believe that this simple, inexpensive (less than $ 1,500) device would probably have saved his life, and one should be present at any arena where competitive sports are played.
So, to address your concerns, I suggest getting an EKG. Your college Health Center should be able to do this for you. A normal EKG does not absolutely rule out all conditions that can cause SCA, but it will be abnormal in the vast majority of them.
