Ways to temperately alleviate cold induced asthma issues? 10 points best answer!?

Ways to temperately alleviate cold induced asthma issues? 10 points best answer!?
So my boyfriend is having asthma problems (wheezing, coughing, not sleeping, ETC) and i believe he will be going to be doctors (not sure if he actually will) but until then i'm trying to gather TEMPORARY ways to make him feel better. His asthma is triggered every year around halloween when it starts getting cold here (the mid west). He doesn't use an inhaler for some stupid reason...
If anyone knows anyways to help make him feel better for a bit please let me know ASAP.
Thank you in advance.

Some ways are to firstly avoid the cold, and try to keep him from getting a runny nose, as the fluid build up in the lungs can trigger minor attacks.

If he starts to wheeze badly, heavy coughing can help with some of the wheezing, though not the safest option, it has helped me.

Another trick i've found is for a few minutes have him do heavy breathing, it will be painful but may help loosen the lungs.

Though the easiest way to help would be to get him on an inhaler.

Those ideas might work or not, but they are the things that helps me through winter.
